''Ribbon Wi-Fi Spot'' is a design proposal for signaling free internet access points in the city. Its name betrays it's drawing concept, a ''ribbon'' that unfolds in several places in Thessaloniki giving to its users information about the city.

This project is part of the course ''Urban Design Furniture - Wi-Fi Spot''.

Ribbon Wi-Fi Spot is an urban furniture proposal for signaling free internet access points in the city of Thessaloniki.

The form was inspired by a ribbon-spool that unfolds and creates folds. In the same way people are goinmg to meet these pieces of ribbon around the city in order to access the internet, and derive useful information about the city.

Its construction is as follows: Two steel rods are bent and joined together with intermediate, steel rods, to form the bearing framework, sectional 30x2mm. Then snap into this plastic sheets manufactured in a mold and assembled in situ. The bottom sedentary is closed to avoid bad habits in the city (such as trash) and also receive electrical installations (router device, plugs, wires). The spot also has a 2-sided touch screen, which provides information to users, such as navigation and maps, city events, weather, transport etc. Lighting is all in the porch of the construction with yellow spot.

The color of the wi-fi spot is chosen to be double, red on one side and white and the second to highlight the multi-dimensionality of the object.

The proposed location of the object within the city is the ''HANTH'' Square, in the centre of Thessaloniki, which didn't inspired its form not to prevent  the installation in any other part of the city.
