Lofos Sikelias is a neighborhood with unique character as it constituted excavation hill for half a century. During its expansion, the city joined the negative space of the hill and, as a result, today the urban landscape and the remnants of the natural landscape coexist in the neighborhood. In this neighborhood, on Pantou street and very close to Panteio University, lay two empty blocks, which are separated by a pedestrian street, according to a regeneration plan for the neighborhood. This diploma project, suggests that a student residence should be built in the empty blocks, in order to accommodate the Panteion university students. The fundamental design choices were three: 1.Use drawing lines in accordance to the surrounding urban fabric 2.Draw a new path for the pedestrian street in order to create a link among the University, the dormitory and the natural landscape. 3.Bring the planting in the urban space and diffuse through the complex's open space. The complex consists of two sections shaped L. One is located near the urban fabric and accommodates the communal facilities, the second one which is located near the natural landscape, accommodates the rooms. Between the two sections are planned two atriums which can be used for external activities complementary to the internal spaces. The main staircases constitute distinguishable blocks which are formed as "towers". Finally the roofs are inclined and are drawn as one single line that unfolds along the field's perimeter.
